Our story

It Started With Patients Who Gave Up.

In private practice, our founder watched allergic patients choose misery over twice-weekly shots.Antihistamines and decongestants masked symptoms and brought side effects. Allergy shots treated the cause, but they took a year to work and demanded office visits twice a week. Many patients simply stopped coming.Sublingual immunotherapy, drops of the same antigen taken under the tongue, was already common in Europe. He began prescribing it in 1985, one of the first physicians in the country to do so broadly.Patients took the drops daily at home, so results came faster and compliance held. In 1995 he started AllergyEasy to share the program with other doctors and their patients.
What makes us different

One Serum, Built For Real Life.

Comprehensive, not minimalMost programs treat a handful of local allergens. Ours covers the major pollens of the world plus molds, dust and dander, 60+ antigens in one mix.
Food allergies tooA separate food serum covers 59 food antigens. Few programs in the country actively treat food allergy.
Prescribed by your own doctorPrimary care physicians, pediatricians and specialists prescribe through our network, so you do not need an allergist referral.

Why comprehensive

Allergy Tests Miss Things. The Serum Does Not.

Allergies change with age and geography, and skin tests return false negatives more often than people expect.A serum mixed only to a test result can miss the allergen doing the damage. Our comprehensive serum fills those gaps, so protection holds whether you travel, move or develop new sensitivities over time. That is also why some patients respond well on the drops after years of limited results on shots mixed to a narrow panel.

The basics

How It Works.

What is immunotherapy?Desensitizing the immune system to allergens by exposing it to tiny, rising doses of extracts. Over time it stops overreacting. Shots inject the extract; drops place it under the tongue.
How do the drops work?Specialized cells under the tongue carry the antigens into the bloodstream and are especially good at teaching tolerance. A few drops, held briefly, once a day.
What are they made of?Natural extracts of the common antigens you breathe or eat, suspended in saline, compounded to order by a licensed pharmacy.
Results

How Fast, How Long.

How long until I see results? Most patients report marked relief within 3 to 12 weeks. Some notice a change in weeks; severe allergies take longer. Results vary by person.
How long do I stay on the drops? We recommend about three years so the immune change holds. Some patients then stop without relapse; others keep a maintenance dose.
Is it proven?A Cochrane Collaboration review of 22 studies and 979 patients concluded sublingual immunotherapy is a safe treatment that reduces symptoms and medication needs in allergic rhinitis. The World Health Organization and the ARIA guidelines recognize sublingual immunotherapy as a safe, effective allergy treatment.
Practical

Kids, Travel, Pregnancy.

Are the drops for children?Yes. Shown safe under five, typically started around age three. Shots usually wait until seven.
Can I travel with them? The dropper bottle is under three ounces, so it flies in a carry-on. The serum is comprehensive, so it keeps protecting you in a new city or country.
What if I am pregnant? The drops have been reported safe in pregnancy. Decide with your prescribing provider.
Money

Cost And Insurance.

Will insurance cover the drops? Most plans cover allergy testing and visits. Fewer cover the drops themselves, though many patients find self-pay drops cheaper than months of shot copays and travel.
What does it cost?Plans run $297 for 3 months, $497 for 6 months, $797 for 12 months, with an installment option on twelve months.
Can I use an HSA or FSA?Generally yes, as a prescription product. Confirm with your plan.
Food and more

Beyond Hay Fever.

Do the drops work for food allergies?Yes. A separate food serum covers 59 foods including milk, egg, wheat and soy. Shots are not used for food allergy.
Can they help eosinophilic esophagitis or oral allergy syndrome? Both are allergy-driven and both respond when the underlying food and pollen allergies are treated.
I was never allergic before. Why now?Allergies can begin at any age as the immune system meets new allergens or loses tolerance. Treatment works the same whenever it starts.
